Koniag Data Solutions is seeking a dedicated Security Specialist to support our Program Management Office (PMO) in accelerating the adoption of Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) solutions for various Air Force applications. This mid-tier role is essential to ensuring ICAM implementations meet security requirements and compliance standards across Air Force IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, experience with security documentation, and the ability to assess and mitigate risks associated with ICAM integration into legacy systems. This position requires an active Secret security clearance.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
The Security Specialist will work within our PMO team and ICAM implementation teams to provide security expertise throughout the ICAM implementation process, ensuring that all solutions adhere to DoD security requirements and risk management frameworks. The position involves direct engagement with technical teams, application owners, and security stakeholders to maintain security compliance during ICAM transitions. Principal responsibilities include:
Update and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Assessment Reports (SARs), and Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs) to reflect ICAM implementation in legacy systems
Assess security implications of ICAM integration with legacy applications and document necessary controls
Collaborate with application owners and technical teams to identify security requirements for ICAM implementation
Conduct security reviews of proposed ICAM solutions to ensure compliance with DoD security standards
Support the development of security documentation required for Authority to Operate (ATO) processes
Assist in identifying security vulnerabilities in existing authentication mechanisms and recommend mitigations
Track and report on security compliance status for ICAM implementations across multiple applications
Provide security guidance to implementation teams regarding best practices for secure ICAM integration
Participate in security working groups and configuration control boards related to ICAM implementation
Support security testing and validation of ICAM solutions prior to production deployment
Document security findings and recommendations for remediating identified issues
Monitor and assess security impacts of changes to ICAM implementations throughout the lifecycle
Education and Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
3+ years of experience in information security, preferably in ISSO or similar roles
Experience with DoD security documentation, including SSPs, SARs, and POAMs
Experience supporting federal government projects, particularly within Department of Defense
Demonstrated knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes
Required Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of information security principles, practices, and procedures
Experience updating and maintaining system security documentation (SSPs, SARs, POAMs)
Knowledge of NIST Special Publications and security controls relevant to identity and access management
Familiarity with authentication security requirements and best practices
Experience working with legacy system security concerns and modernization challenges
Ability to identify security risks and develop practical mitigation strategies
Knowledge of DoD security compliance requirements and processes
Strong documentation skills with attention to detail
Experience supporting Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes
Ability to communicate security concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience collaborating with technical teams and system owners on security matters
Proficiency with security assessment and documentation tools
The candidate must possess demonstrated expertise in Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) aligned with DoD policy, and hold a current DoD 8570-compliant IAM-level certification such as Security+ CE, CAP, CISSP, or equivalent.
Security Clearance Requirement:
Active Secret security clearance
Desired Skills and Competencies:
Experience with DISA STIGs and compliance checking tools
Familiarity with Air Force IT systems and security requirements
Understanding of Zero Trust Architecture security principles
Experience with security aspects of identity federation and single sign-on solutions
Knowledge of PKI infrastructure and certificate management
Experience with continuous monitoring processes and tools
Understanding of Privileged Access Management (PAM) security controls
Familiarity with security implications of Cloud Identity solutions
Experience with security assessment and authorization in DoD environments
Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies and directives related to identity management
