All Data Scientist roles at Central Hudson have a broad impact, supporting critical functions across the organization-from operational optimization to strategic planning-ultimately helping deliver reliable services that benefit our customers, employees, and overall performance.What does a Data Scientist do? Collects, cleans, and organizes data from various internal and external sources Conducts exploratory data analyses to identify trends, correlations, and insights Develops, tests, and refines predictive models for operational outcomes Creates data visualizations and dashboards to communicate results and recommendations Participates in cross-functional projects to support business objectives Documents findings, methods, and best practices for ongoing knowledge sharing Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define project objectives and analytical requirements Contributes to process improvements and data-driven strategies within the organization Provides support for storm restoration effortsWhat does it take to be a Data Scientist? Required: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or relevant and experience working in data science or related Proficiency with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) and data manipulation tools Demonstrated understanding of statistical techniques or machine learning concepts Strong communication and teamwork skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Valid driver's licensePreferred: Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or a relevant field 3+ years of professional experience in data science or related In depth knowledge of machine learning techniques and modeling approaches Experience with big data technologies, cloud platforms, or distributed computing frameworksApplications will be accepted until September 4, 2025.
