The Mechanical Engineering directorate leads in the mechanical hardware design, development, and production of weapons systems. We use state-of-the-art tools, processes, and technology, with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines, including product engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials engineering, analysis and test, rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation.
The Rapid Hardware Solutions (RHS) department within Mechanical Engineering is chartered to deliver agile services. We bridge across Operations and Engineering, providing solutions through the execution of quick-turn design, procurement, manufacturing, and environmental test services.
RHS is skilled in special test equipment, program trainers, environmental test, and cooling systems . We utilize Creo and Common Product Data Management (PDM) with tailored release processes for maximum cross-use and flexibility.
RHS executes prototyping and high-mix/low-rate procurement and fabrication activities with a focus on in-house electro-mechanical packaging, support equipment and liquid cooling systems integration, and partner with outside suppliers to satisfy all demands. We strive to minimize cycle times and provide best value through the utilization of dynamic and agile processes.
This role is for a Cooling Systems Engineer to support cooling and hydraulic systems used in a variety of harsh environmental military applications. Our primary role is to design and support the fabrication, testing, and installation of custom liquid-cooled systems for radars. We also support custom air-cooling of power and communication shelters.
This position is in Marlborough , MA. (On-site)
Responsibilities to anticipate:
Working closely with our customers to establish cooling systems requirements
Mechanical design, analysis, and documentation of cooling hardware and system
Selection of components including pumps and heat exchangers
Drawing generation, drawing release, and drawing change incorporation
Resolution of change requests from manufacturing or suppliers
Factory and supplier support of product integration domestically and internationally
May travel to domestic Raytheon sites, suppliers, and government facilities
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), with experience in the fields of Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, and/or Heat Transfer
2 years of engineering experience involving cooling systems - liquid cooling or air cooling
Experience in solid modeling tools such as Pro/Engineer, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or similar tool
Qualifications We Prefer
Masters Degree in STEM
Hands-on mechanical aptitude
Willingness for international travel to Middle East, Asia, and Europe to foreign sites, suppliers, and facilities.
Experienced in the application of ANSI 14.5M - 1994 (1982), Geometric Dimension & Tolerance.
Proficiency in Product Data Management (PDM)
Good presentation and writing skills
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to resolve technical issues.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
