GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:The Senior Mechanical Engineer researches, plans, and designs mechanical packaging for RF, microwave, & mm-wave products and systems. Directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, assembly, installation, operation, and qualification of RF & mm-wave products and sub-systems. Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design RF & mm-wave products, thermal management solutions, test fixtures, etc. Works on complex problems of significant scope. Works both independently and as part of a collaborative team with limited instruction and oversight. May provide guidance and mentoring to more junior team members. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.This position requires the ability to obtain security clearance, if needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.- Designs electronics packaging solutions for RF & mm-wave products, and develops thermal management solutions.- Simulates, analyzes, and modifies electronics packaging designs to survive operation in harsh environments exposed to shock, vibration, humidity, salt fog, sand & dust, fungus, etc.- May act as a mentor for other Mechanical Engineers, providing guidance and direction and acting as an independent internal reviewer of their work.- Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.- Evaluates customer field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate product degradation and/or system malfunctions.?- Other job duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Required Experience:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.- Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100.- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen.- Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the assigned duties.- Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements.- Communicate and interact effectively with peers, supervisors, and maintain respect for others, and following company policies.- Have a willingness and ability to learn and utilize company technology for company required purposes, including, for example training, reviewing and signing policies and procedures, benefits enrollment and changes, and more.- Ability to obtain Security Clearance, if needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 20 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:- Office/Cubicle/Cleanroom Lab and Manufacturing environments.- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.- Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, mouse, phones).- Ability to lift up to 10lbs.
