Job Description:
About the Role:
We are seeking a Director, Food Safety & Quality (FSQ), to join our team based in Oak Brook, IL. The Director, Food Safety & Quality strategizes, plans, and directs all aspects of food safety and quality across assigned manufacturing facilities. This role is accountable for ensuring operational compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements, while driving continuous improvement in FSQ performance. The Director provides leadership and oversight to plant QA Managers within the assigned product categories, ensuring consistent execution of food safety and quality programs. Through effective collaboration with cross-functional partners, this position plays a key role in maintaining product integrity, consumer trust, and operational excellence.
You'll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:
Provide food safety and quality leadership for the assigned business unit by assuring that all Regulatory and TreeHouse Corporate FS&Q policies and procedures are implemented and followed.
Act as the primary backup to the Sr. Director of FS&Q.
Ensure manufacturing facilities maintain GFSI certification and internal FS&Q System compliance.
Strategically identify CI opportunities for the business and utilize Continuous Improvement tools such as SPC, Six Sigma, Lean, Root Cause Analysis, and others to drive FS&Q improvement.
Assign, coordinate and review the technical work of the department or project teams; while remaining a subject matter expert in the areas in which they manage and support.
Lead facilities in the adoption and disciplined use of the commercialization process for new product/process launches and redesigns by establishing relationships with Research and Development, Packaging Engineering, Regulatory, and Operations.
Support Engineering, Procurement, and other supply chain initiatives, ensuring projects meet all required food processing paraments while maintaining required FS&Q standards and financial objectives.
Management of programs designed to address evaluate and improve FS&Q-based trends from customers/consumers comments, internal deviations, and industry trends. Develop improvement goals and lead improvement efforts for each plant against defined KPIs.
Support plant audits/inspections as needed by Government agencies, Customers, and or Third-Party groups.
Interface with the Divisional Business Unit leaders on new or expanded product opportunities.
Provide technical support to Customer Excellence and Customer Affairs teams regarding customer responses and meetings.
Contribute to the development of the annual Divisional Strategic Plan.
Develop team member skill sets by conducting evaluations and recommending development opportunities through the use of continuing education, seminars, trade shows, and other methods.

Important Details:
The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $150,900 to $226,300 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary that we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics and business or organizational needs. For certain roles, the successful candidate may be eligible for annual discretionary merit compensation award, bonus and equity pay.
This is a full-time, hybrid role on first shift.

Bachelor's Degree required in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Engineering or a related scientific discipline
Minimum of 8 years progressive Food Safety & Quality leadership experience
Strong ability to manage cross-functionally and drive support for Food Safety & Quality initiatives with all leaders in the organization.
Ability to lead through the influence of others, by driving commitment to process compliance and continuous improvement.
Must be a strong advocate of compliance, an experienced trainer, and an accomplished manager of technical resources.
Required in-depth knowledge of regulatory (FDA/CFIA) requirements and their interpretation such as Current Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, Risk-based Preventative Controls, Food Defense, Stability Guidelines, Sanitation practices, and Sanitary Design as it relates to food manufacturing.
Must possess sound reasoning ability, analytical, and creative skills to investigate problems in order to recommend and implement solutions.
Efficient computer skills; strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and SharePoint are required. Familiarity with wed-based programs is preferred including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) along with SAP, Infinity-QS and Tracegains, or similar systems.
Balanced technical skillset with a demonstrated track record of accomplishments in Food Safety and Quality Assurance.
