Fleet Maintenance Supervisor

Fleet Maintenance Supervisor Provides administrative, technical, supervisory and logistical support for a substantial team in the planning, organization and direction of work activities and operations within the Department of Public Works. This includes instructing and overseeing contracted operations and related responsibilities on a city wide basis. Additionally, the position may require occasional manual work when necessary, along with the performance of any other duties relevant to the position as required.Responsible for ensuring that subordinates perform diagnostic, repair and maintenance of tasks on City equipment, vehicles, machinery, and chemical handling processes in compliance with EPA Standards, as well as on motorized equipment and radio systems. Additionally, oversees the maintenance, security, and protection of the garage and assigned facilities by directing and supervising the projects and activities of the Lead Mechanic and divisional employees. Must possess a valid Massachusetts Class A Operator?s License or an equivalent license from reciprocal State (CDL), with Air Brake Certification, tanker endorsement, and Hydraulic License/Massachusetts Hoisters License relevant to the position or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days from hire date required. Shall possess ASE Master Certification for heavy-duty vehicles or able to obtain within one (1) year from hire date required Possession of ASE Master Certification for light duty vehicles and \"L1\" Advanced Engine Performance Certification or able to obtain within three (3) years from hire date is required. Must possess MA vehicle non-commercial inspection, commercial inspection, and 7D School inspections or able to obtain within six (6) months from hire date are required. Possession of automotive hand tools sufficient for performing work is required to ensure operational continuity during instances of employee absenteeism, unexpected or surges in service demand, or for purposes related to instruction, training, or supervision, particularly in emergency situations. Must successfully pass CORI/ SORI checks, have an acceptable driving record, and be insurable under city?s policy. Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen in accordance with DOT Regulations. May be required to work extra hours or be on-call for weather-related or other emergency situations.
