Position Overview:

As a Thermodynamics Development Engineer within the Mercury Marine Product Development & Engineering team, you will primarily focus on the thermodynamic development of spark ignited four stroke engines. Additionally, this role may also support engine calibration activities.

Essential Functions:

Developing optimized base engine hardware and calibrations for power, emissions, fuel economy, and part throttle combustion stability

Construct engine test/development plans

Support engine testing on the dynamometer and boats

Aid in establishing standardized procedures for engine development and testing

Documentation of work in the form of technical reports

Provide clear feedback to design engineers to drive product improvement

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering

8+ years of related experience

Previous four-stroke spark ignited engine development experience

Overall understanding of engine thermodynamics (gas exchange, combustion, emissions, base engine mapping)

Experience with engine dynamometer testing

Analytical approach to problem solving

Working knowledge of P/C spreadsheet, database, and word processing software packages

Proven experience in driving root cause failure process

Proven experience driving new or current product development assignments to completion

Preferred Qualifications:

Master of Science in an Engineering discipline

10+ years of experience

Experience with AVL engine test and analysis software (PUMA, Concerto) is a plus.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $100,900-$160,800 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job- related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business @context.
