Job Title: Accounting Manager
Job Summary:
EMCOR Services Aircond has an immediate need for a strategic and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee various key accounting functions and support the Accounting team. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, maintains strong internal controls, and contributes to operational and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring proven leadership in finance or accounting, a commitment to compliance, and a passion for continuous improvement. This key finance and accounting leader reports to the Chief Financial Officer. The position is located in Smyrna, GA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Financial Leadership & Reporting
Responsible for various month end close duties to include preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and researching and resolving financial statement variances.
Ensure timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial statements.
Collaborate with CFO and Controller to implement financial best practices and improve reporting accuracy.
Assist in developing comprehensive SOPs for all accounting functions.
Team & Department Management
Lead and mentor a team of 2-4 accounting professionals, fostering growth and accountability.
Directly oversee travel compliance and expense reporting processes.
Oversee recurring payment processing via checks and ACH payments.
Promote a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure alignment with company goals.
Compliance & Controls
Assist the CFO and Controller with internal audit requirements, regulatory standards, and industry-specific practices.
Assist with maintaining and enhancing internal control systems to safeguard financial integrity.
Operational Excellence
Optimize ERP systems (COINS ERP+ preferred) and accounting software to enhance efficiency and reporting capabilities.
Additional Responsibilities
Support CFO and Controller with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and strategic financial planning.
Maintain compliance with sales and use tax regulations relevant to the construction and service industry.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
A minimum of four (4) years of progressive accounting experience; two (2) years in a leadership role and prior work experience in the service, construction, or other related industry strongly preferred.
Prior experience managing and developing accounting teams preferred.
Experience with job costing and COINS ERP+ preferred but not required; familiarity with other ERP systems a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft365, including Excel; Power BI preferred but not required.
Ability to work independently, with a disciplined work ethic, high energy level, and professional passion for accounting.
Highly detailed, with excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, time management and leadership skills.
Strong communication and project management skills and proven ability to motivate and manage a team - strong collaboration, coaching, influencing, and facilitation skills a must.
Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to sit and use hands to operate computer keyboard and telephone. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
