Description

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Salinas, California. As part of a dynamic agricultural business, this role will focus on managing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting the company's growth objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

Handle daily accounting tasks, including managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and maintaining the general ledger.

Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.

Reconcile bank accounts and swiftly address any discrepancies.

Maintain comprehensive records of company assets and inventory for fresh produce operations.

Collaborate with the Controller to ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements.

Contribute to the development of budgets and financial forecasts to support strategic planning.

Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights to help guide management decisions.

Support external audits by preparing detailed documentation and financial reports.

Drive process improvements by implementing automation and streamlining workflows.

Partner with other departments to ensure accurate integration of financial data with overall business operations.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree or associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, ideally in agriculture, food production, or distribution industries.

Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.

Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving capabilities.

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Familiarity with agriculture-related accounting or commodity cost tracking is a plus.
