Job Description
Inver Hills Community College (IHCC) and Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) are seeking an Assistant Director of Career Development to join the Student Life Team. This position plays a vital role in helping students and graduates gain the resources, skills, experiences, and connections needed to compete effectively in the labor market and secure employment in their chosen industries. The Assistant Director will work collaboratively with faculty and staff to create industry-related learning experiences, internships, and off-campus employment opportunities. Additionally, this role will serve as a liaison to the business community, fostering relationships and partnerships that expand job prospects for students.
Responsibilities include:
Develop a comprehensive career coaching program that supports a diverse community and technical college student body
Organize career development curriculum campus-wide through presentations, events, programs, and related opportunities
Collect, organize, interpret, and share data on career services, employment, and job placement
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner
Salary Range:
$25.29 - $36.71/ Hour; $52,806 - $76,650 Annually
Minimum Qualifications
Professional experience in higher education in areas such as career and educational planning, academic support, advising, or teaching.
Experience in program development and event coordination
Excellent organizational and communication skills (written, oral and electronic)
Knowledge, background, or experience working with diverse groups of students, faculty and employers
Competency with computers (i.e., Microsoft Office, internet)
Demonstrated ability to work independently on a variety of projects and as a member of a team
Preferred Qualification
Bachelor's degree
Knowledge of national Career Clusters and Pathways
Mentoring/advising skills
Experience creating strategic partnerships
Understanding of the structure of academic programs offered at the colleges
Marketing and public relations skills
Other Requirements:
In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
