Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsiblities
Heavy Fleet & Equipment, a part of Fleet & Critical Site Infrastructure (FCSI), is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to validate physical configuration of assigned systems, maintain system documents for Configuration Management, act as subject matter experts, conduct inspections, develop field programs and design, perform design and technical analysis, coordinate with other departments and vendors, define procurement specifications, and monitor the work technicians. This position plays a critical role in the critical infrastructure that helps secure our nation's future.
Key Responsibilities
Perform duties as a facility/system engineer. Serve as Engineer for the NNSS Facility as an Engineer for Fleet, Fuel, and Equipment Services (FF&E) within the Critical Site Infrastructure Division, reporting directly to the Fleet, Fuel, & Equipment Manager.
Support and execute all FF&E Fleet and Equipment and assisting Facility Hoisting and Rigging Program activities at the NNSS and ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Department of Energy (DOE) H&R Standards, and Company documents.
Interact frequently with all levels of Management throughout the site. Also interact with SME counterparts throughout the complex to ensure exchange of information with them
Responsible for maintaining overall cognizance of assigned facility systems, providing systems engineering support for operations and maintenance, and technical support of line management safety responsibilities for ensuring continued system operational readiness.
Select and implement computer applications for their field.
Prepare or contribute to designs, strategies, reports and technical proposals.
Give quarterly presentations on heavy construction equipment and underground equipment health and status.
Perform design and technical analysis activities using prescribed codes and standards, computer software, and generally accepted best management practices.
Perform frequent coordination of discipline information with other departments within the company and with outside vendors.
Work with outside vendors as required, obtaining relevant information.
Develop a working knowledge of codes and standards of other disciplines.
Coordinate work within their discipline on moderately complex projects.
Often serve as a member of work teams.
Define specifications for procurements and initiates purchase requests.
Devise solutions to highly complex technical problems of broad scope. Solutions may require resolving conflicting customer expectations and design requirements, utilizing unconventional technology and materials, and cross-disciplinary integration.
Evaluate processes, procedures, and work instructions to improve performance.
Prepare work statements for complex subcontracts and procurements, evaluates bids and makes recommendations for awards.
Some travel to vendor facilities may be required for specification verification.
Qualifications
Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.
Bachelor's degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) required for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering degrees;
Or, Calculus-based STEM bachelor's degree in engineering;
Or Professional Engineer license.
Plus at least 2 years' relevant experience. Skill building experience must demonstrate either deeper technical specialization or additional cross-disciplinary knowledge; graduate research experience may be recognized.
Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others, and the ability to maintain constructive working relationships at all levels.
Demonstrated desire to learn and innovate.
Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and procedures.
Effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to understand/explain technical concepts to non-technical personnel/customers/clients.
Proficient in Microsoft Programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. And very proficient with CAD.
The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
Work schedule will be 4/10s Monday through Thursday (subject to change).
Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ' Identity, Credential, and Access Management ,' and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ' Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors .'

Annual salary range for this position is: $81,307.20 - $121,971.20.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
