Data Scientist - Computer Vision
Location : Salt Lake City (Hybdrid) / US (Remote)
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Scientist with a strong background in Computer Vision to join our growing team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced computer vision models and algorithms to extract insights from complex visual data. You will work on challenging, real-world problems, from ideation to production, contributing significantly to our core products and strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Lead the end-to-end development of computer vision solutions, including problem definition, data collection and annotation strategies, model selection, training, evaluation, and deployment.
Apply advanced machine learning and deep learning techniques to solve complex computer vision problems such as object detection, image classification, segmentation, pose estimation, and video analysis.
Design and implement scalable and efficient computer vision pipelines for processing large datasets.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, software engineers, and other data scientists to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Evaluate and select appropriate data and modeling techniques based on problem complexity, data availability, and performance requirements.
Conduct rigorous experimentation, analyze results, and iterate on models to achieve optimal performance.
Communicate complex technical concepts and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in computer vision, deep learning, and artificial intelligence, and actively contribute to the team's knowledge sharing and best practices.
Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
Qualifications:
Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
5+ years of industry experience as a Data Scientist with a focus on Computer Vision.
Strong expertise in deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.
Demonstrated experience with a wide range of computer vision tasks and algorithms (e.g., CNNs, Transformers, R-CNNs, YOLO, UNet, GANs).
Proficiency in Python and its scientific computing libraries (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn).
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and distributed computing for model training and deployment.
Solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning.
Experience with MLOps practices, including model versioning, deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Nice to have:
Experience with LIDAR data.
Experience leading computer vision projects from research to production.
Experience with synthetic data generation or data augmentation techniques.
Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with real-time computer vision systems.
