Location : This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to either One Energy Plaza or Parnall located in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).

General Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for analyzing large and complex datasets and leading the data output process. This role involves developing and maintaining machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) models, data models, and analytical tools to support business objectives. The ideal candidate will be proficient in classification, regression, and other ML techniques, and capable of communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. This individual will collaborate with business units to define requirements and fulfill data requests for strategic analytical initiatives. A strong understanding of organizational business needs and the ability to generate actionable insights to solve complex problems is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prioritize business initiatives and structure projects for optimal success, considering budget, staffing, and regulatory requirements
Lead and execute complex analytics initiatives from ideation through production and adoption, with a clear understanding of the analytics lifecycle and common challenges
Plan, organize, and manage data resources and processes to meet complex project or program objectives within defined scope, time, quality, and budget constraints
Extract data from primary datasets and business tools to support analytical efforts
Communicate data science outputs effectively and contribute to the development of models and solutions that deliver actionable insights for business execution
Independently evaluate, select, build, train, and apply the most effective modeling approaches using data science methodologies
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify, research, and resolve advanced analytical challenges
Perform other duties as assigned or required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Strong expertise in quantitative analytics and structured problem-solving
Ability to apply logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions and approaches
Proficiency in data modeling, machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis, data visualization, and data engineering
Solid understanding of project management principles and the ability to define project and business requirements
Skilled in compiling, cleaning, organizing, interpreting, and communicating data and results clearly and concisely
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong process management capabilities
Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Data Analysis, or a related field, with four (4) or more years of in-depth experience in data science, data analysis, data modeling, and business needs assessment
[OR] Associate's degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Data Analysis, or a related field, with six (6) or more years of in-depth experience in data science, data analysis, data modeling, and business needs assessment
[OR] High School Diploma with eight (8) or more years of in-depth experience in data science, data analysis, data modeling, and business needs assessment
