Overview
THE ROLE:
The Specialist, Sports Marketing & Sponsorships (Global & NAM) will play a key role in driving the strategic direction and execution of North America and Global Partnerships. This position will manage junior partnerships, including research, analytics, contract negotiations, partnership strategy, campaign development, creative briefs, partnership launches, implementation, and ROI measurement. The role will also lead international stakeholders in developing PR and social media efforts to amplify programs and will interact with regional and country marketing counterparts to advise on sponsorship contracts and activation elements.
The Specialist will support the Director in preparing presentations, identifying strategic opportunities, guiding campaigns, and evaluating outcomes to ensure alignment with Herbalife's mission and objectives. This role involves direct involvement and oversight of critical relationships within the company's partnership portfolio and will interact with city officials, community groups, industry leaders, sports agents, marketing firms, and professional sports leagues.
Additionally, the Specialist will assist with the implementation and logistics of North America sports programs.
This role will also manage all Departmental administrative and logistical duties including finance (purchase orders, invoices, expense reports), product orders, apparel and supply inventory, video/photo shoot needs, travel arrangements, shipping, intranet updates, IT support, sports ticket management, the sponsorship platform management, contracts, organization of global marketing meetings, department recaps, quarterly business reports and support with team projects and deadlines
The position requires a strategic mindset, a deep understanding of the global sports industry, and excellent leadership capabilities to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and regional stakeholders.
Partnership Structure Overview:
Junior partnerships = product only, lower-level athlete partnerships (Jalen Neal, Sporting Kansas City, etc...)
Senior partnerships =mid to high profile athlete and/or with global appeal (Riqui Puig, Ziaire Williams, Blake Williams, etc...)
Premium high level = global, high profile, complex agreements (The LA Galaxy & Ronaldo, Olympic Committee)
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
Manage all aspects of junior level sponsorships and relationships, including opportunity analysis, contract execution, sponsorship strategy planning, activation and year-end analysis.
Lead cross-functional teams for sponsorship events, including Sales and Events, Marketing, Finance, Sports Performance, social media, and Worldwide Communication.
Assist the Director of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship in development of global sports and sponsorship campaigns
Manage and oversee off-site events, manage logistics and marketing elements for global sports and sponsorship campaigns
Collaborate with the Director of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship to develop the global strategic vision
Develop a regional tool kit to support the global sports marketing and sponsorship vision and strategy
Provide strategic guidance to regions and countries on effective sponsorship management and campaigns that will meet company objectives
Work with regional sales liaisons across the country to guide and implement in-market activation to support Distributor business.
Develop creative briefs and review sports marketing projects, support back-end software systems for sponsorship analysis and support and assist with budget tracking
Assist with the implementation and logistics of North America sports marketing and sponsorship campaigns
Management of department administrative duties and logistics
WHAT'S SPECIAL ABOUT THE TEAM:
The Global and North America Sports Marketing and Sponsorship team manages and oversees the company's portfolio of sponsored team's, events, leagues, committees and athletes from around the world that fuel the brand love for the company. The department serves as the company's global center of excellence for all sports sponsorships and sports marketing business. The team members have to understand the importance of sports and sponsorship in 30+ different sports in 40+ countries which means understanding sports landscape, the culture and how the company can benefit from a partnership. The team needs to have a strong strategic vision, analytical skills, be creative and innovative, an expert in relationship management, must be adaptable and flexible and be very purpose driven. They have to step on top of fast developing sports trends and be able to react quickly. They need to be responsible and professional as they will often work and network with high level Executives, influential thought leaders and high-profile organizations like Olympic committees and National Team Executives. They will also work closely with high-profile athletes and sports agents which requires a unique set of skills to ensure effective communication, support, and collaboration. The works in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same in the ever-evolving sports industry.
Qualifications
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
5-7 years of experience in marketing, sports management, or a related field is essential. This experience should include hands-on involvement in managing partnerships, executing marketing campaigns, and working with cross-functional teams. Experience in digital marketing and sponsorship management is particularly valuable
Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of the sports industry are crucial
The ability to build and maintain relationships with sports entities and athletes, stakeholders, negotiate contracts, and develop strategic marketing plans
Basic knowledge of nutrition industry, performance and health and wellness products
Strong leadership skills and ability to solve problems and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Adept at multi-tasking, extremely detail oriented, organized, results-driven, creative and proficient and implementation of campaigns and events
Very strong interpersonal and presentation skills, must be able to work in a face-paced environment and ability to create presentations. Charismatic attitude who is able to mingle and interact with athletes on all levels
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
Efficient, self-starter, problem solver with a can-do attitude
Education
Bachelor's degree in marketing, sports management, business, or a related field
