About Rockville Correctional Facility:
As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Rockville Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. The Rockville Correctional Facility is an intake and medium security facility for adult females. Rockville Correctional Facility is located in Rockville, Indiana. The Department of Correction developed the facility from an Air Force base into a juvenile male facility, to co-ed, and now to adult females alone, making it the largest female facility. The Rockville Correctional Facility serves as the intake unit for women in the Department of Correction, which involves a series of assessments to ensure each incarcerated individual is assigned to the facility and programming that best meets their needs. Incarcerated individuals have multiple educational and vocational training opportunities, including cosmetology, parenting support and a partnership with Televerde that includes training and work opportunities inside the facility and post release.
Role Overview:
?As a Correctional Lieutenant you will be responsible for the training in emergency preparedness and response of the various teams within the Indiana Department of Correction. You will be responsible for the management, supervision and safety of the facility, incarcerated individuals, coworkers, and the general public. In addition, you must apply the IDOC and facility rules, policies and procedures in a firm, fair and consistent manner to both incarcerated individuals and subordinate staff. Work is diverse and varied. You must remain vigilant to all breaches of security and threats.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Lead assigned staff in maintaining the security and safety of offenders, buildings, and grounds.
Follow all policies and procedures related to facility's operations and emergency preparedness.
Provide input to supervisors on staff assignments, performance, corrective actions, and specific security issues with potential resolutions.
Assist in identifying offender treatment needs and support programs for treatment and rehabilitation which may include encouraging offenders to accept professional assistance and treatment from staff as needed.
Direct staff regarding the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility.
Act as shift supervisor in the absence of the Captain or serve as the custody supervisor at smaller facilities.
Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
High School Diploma or High School Equivalent.?
Three (3) years of custody experience in a correctional institution, law enforcement or military law enforcement, and one (1) year experience as a correctional supervisor or supervisory training in a related field.
Be willing to travel with reasonable accommodation.
Must test negative on all drug screenings.
Thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures and practices utilized in a correctional environment.
Ability to work mandatory/voluntary overtime.
Ability to supervise and achieve desired results from offenders and staff.
Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to apply as needed.
Ability to communicate effectively, including giving clear directions.
Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.
Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
You must satisfy the following requirements to continue employment:
Ability to successfully complete all mandatory training including?the DOC Supervisory Training Program, First Aid, and CPR courses.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
