Job Summary:

Our non-profit organization in Canton, Ohio, is seeking an experienced Grant Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis. This critical role involves managing grant-related accounting processes, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting our organization's mission by efficiently administering funds. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in grant compliance, expense tracking, and reporting, alongside proficiency in grant-related software.

Key Responsibilities:

Grant Accounting Administration: Manage accounting processes for major grants and smaller funding programs, ensuring accurate expense tracking and compliance with funders' requirements.

Financial Record Maintenance: Prepare and post journal entries to maintain up-to-date and compliant financial records.

Budget Oversight: Monitor grant budgets and expenditures, ensuring adherence to approved funding parameters and requirements.

Software Utilization: Use Abila MIP software for streamlined grant fund administration, tracking, and reporting.

Government Grant Compliance: Ensure the financial aspects of government-funded grants meet all regulatory standards and align with organizational practices.

Collaboration: Partner with program managers to offer financial insights on grant performance and status while ensuring efficient allocation of resources.

Audit and Reporting: Maintain organized documentation to support audits and facilitate grant renewal processes.

Cost Accounting Practices: Apply cost accounting methodologies to improve resource management and financial planning.

Policy Adherence: Review all financial transactions to ensure they are categorized accurately and in compliance with organizational policies.

Requirements - Proven experience in grant accounting and fund administration within the non-profit sector.

Proficiency in Abila MIP software or similar accounting tools.

Strong knowledge of government grant regulations and compliance.

Expertise in preparing journal entries and tracking expenses.

Familiarity with cost accounting principles and practices.

Ability to manage multiple grants simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
