Vice President of Business Development - Utilities

KDG Construction Consulting is seeking a Vice President of Business Development - Utilities, who will lead strategic growth initiatives in the utility sector, with a focus on identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities. This role requires a seasoned leader with deep industry knowledge, a strong network, and proven expertise in cultivating long-term client relationships within electric, gas, water, and renewable energy markets. The VP will develop and execute strategies to expand market presence, drive revenue growth, and position the company as a trusted partner to utility providers and related stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy for the utilities sector aligned with corporate goals.

Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, strategic partnerships, and acquisition prospects.

Collaborate with the executive team to shape long-term growth objectives.

Market Development & Sales

Build and maintain strong relationships with utility companies, regulators, technology partners, and industry influencers.

Lead the proposal and bid process for large-scale contracts, ensuring competitive and compliant submissions.

Oversee negotiations, contract terms, and partnership agreements.

Industry Expertise

Stay informed on regulatory changes, market trends, and emerging technologies impacting the utilities sector.

Represent the company at industry conferences, forums, and networking events.

Provide thought leadership and insights to position the company as an industry leader.

Team Leadership & Development

Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing business development team.

Set performance targets, monitor KPIs, and ensure accountability.

Foster a collaborative, innovative, and results-driven culture.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships within the utilities or energy sector.

Proven track record of securing multi-million-dollar contracts and expanding market share.

Strong understanding of utility operations, regulatory frameworks, and emerging energy technologies.

Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients, attend events, and oversee projects.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with an ability to be self-directed and adaptable.

Ability to pursue multiple opportunities simultaneously.

Anticipated Salary Range: $180,000 - $215,000

The offered salary will be based on the applicant's qualifications, education, experience, and work location.
