community addressing health disparities of underserved children or in
the lab creating gene therapies or tumor vaccines to enhance survival of
children with life threatening illnesses, MCW focuses on all aspects of
advancing knowledge for the benefit of kids. In this unique hybrid/split
position, the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as part of a
multidisciplinary health care team, providing a broad range of
diagnostic and therapeutic services for the patients of both the
Pediatric General Surgery service as a member of the Department of
Surgery- Pediatric General Surgery during peak trauma season and the
patients of the Pediatric Hospital Medicine service as a member of the
Department of Pediatrics during peak viral season. The Advanced Practice
Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team
who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient
care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.
During the viral season (October-March), you will function as a member
of the Pediatric Hospital Medicine team and will be responsible for the
following: Collaborate with MCW pediatric hospital medicine physicians
and interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of
children under the care of the hospital medicine service. Order and
interpret diagnostic tests, procedures, laboratory studies and
professional consultations. Appropriately communicate findings with the
medical team as well as with patients and families. Develop and
implement treatment plans in collaboration with the hospital medicine
attending, monitor effectiveness of plan of care throughout the
patient\'s hospitalization; coordinate the care and discharge of
patients. Document within the Electronic Medical Record accurate and
timely admission, discharge and progress notes, as well as writing
orders and discharge instructions. Provide education and counseling to
patients and families on disease and treatment plans. Provide
