Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Training Center (TRACEN), Petaluma, CA. Responsibilities You will serve as an Information Technology Specialist and be responsible for the Administration of Information Technology Systems, Database Administration and Management, and Systems analysis and Management. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Engineering software and hardware systems, which include Building Automation System (BAS), Supervisory Control and Data (SCADA) and Geospatial Information Systems (GIS). Provides technical expertise in GIS, updating and managing the unit's GIS database. Review and adapts available guidelines and procedures used in the design, development, and maintenance of a database system. evaluates plant processes to ensure the most effective Supervisory Control and Data acquisition applications are deployed supporting processing of Portable and Wastewater Evaluates Building Heating, Ventilation and Cooling (HVAC) controls to assure compliance with Cyber requirements and best practice utilization Requirements Conditions of Employment All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Qualifications To Qualify at the GS 11 level: Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level. Specialized experience includes: Planning and overseeing hardware and software installations for customer workstations, examining malfunctioning hardware and providing cost efficient solutions to remedy defective equipment, and monitoring and evaluating systems compliance with IT security requirements. OR At least one of the following if using education to qualify at this grade level: (A) a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR (B) 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. OR Combination of graduate level education beyond the first 2 years of progressive graduate study and specialized experience that together meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
