Summary This position is located in Engineering Service at the VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) in Brockton, MA. Responsibilities THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION Major duties and responsibilities include: Performing a wide variety of administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the work performed within the Engineering organization. Tracking equipment, supplies, and services. Typing and submitting reports and documents, transcribing, and compiling reports, documents and statistical data for Engineering Service. Answering both routine and trouble calls to Engineering Service and takes appropriate actions, directing calls to proper staff, responding to questions, or taking messages as appropriate. Developing specific procedures to maximize efficiency of procurement for the section within Logistics and Fiscal guidelines. Developing procedures for issuing purchase orders to vendors; creating any necessary documentation systems; and establishing procedures for prompt reconciliation and approval of credit card statements. Generating any purchasing - related reports needed by Engineering Manager for budgetary or other reasons. Performing other duties as assigned. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4) in the Federal Service. Specialized experience includes completing routine purchasing transactions for obtaining goods and services; obtaining all necessary documentation for issuing purchase orders to vendors; documents, transcribes, and compiles reports, documents and statistical data using the appropriate computer software.
