Job Summary

Bowdoin is seeking a Department Coordinator to support the daily functions of the Admissions Office, including event and operations, email and telephone correspondence, as well as visitor reception. This role coordinates events, programs, and operational activities across the Division by utilizing the customer relationship management ( CRM ) system and other technologies, while also providing logistical planning and general administrative support. The coordinator is responsible for preparing and processing confidential college applications and related materials, and regularly interacts with a wide range of constituencies, including prospective and current students, families, alumni, and the general public.

Compensation, Benefits and Perks:

The hourly range for this position is expected to be: $21.85 - $23.00

Education/Skills Requirements

High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred

Proficiency in MS Office and the proven ability and initiative to learn technology

Ability to manage time, multitask, and priortize

Excellent customer service skills

Excellent verbal and written skills

Ability to make decisions using information and good judgement

Skills to collaborate with staff, faculty, administrators, students and visitors

Creative problem solving and strong analytical skills

Ability to work as a team and independently

Organizational skills and attention to detail

Understanding of, sensitivity to, and appreciation for the diversity of students, staff and applicants

Ability to recognize the importance of and necessity for confidentiality

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

Two years of experience in an administrative support role, preferably in an academic setting

Experience in event coordination highly preferred

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications in this posting to be considered for hire.

Standard Work Days and Hours

This is an on-site, full-time, year-round position (0.94 FTE ) working 37.5 hours per week from Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
