Account Clerk - Budget Counselor (PT)

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Perform advanced, specialized financial support for clients on your case load and complex clerical work; in addition to providing coordination and consultation to case managers, Social Security Administration and support staff. This work requires independent judgment, initiative and bookkeeping/budgeting knowledge while completing work accurately and on a timely basis. This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week; flexible scheduling allowed between core work hours Monday --Thursday 7:30am -- 5pm; Friday 7:30am-- 11:30am, based on department need. Essential Duties Provide ongoing budget counseling to adults, within the guidelines set forth by the Social Security Administration, for the chronically mentally ill (CMI), alcohol and other drug addiction (AODA), and Long-Term Care clients Problem solve daily with clients and their advocates regarding budget issues and other concerns Prepare, distribute, order and/or verify client funds and monthly expenditures per the budget established for the client Provide Social Security, clients and other agencies with financial information to update documents/systems in order to maintain client\'s eligibility for services and benefits Verify client benefits they are eligible for are received; communicate with appropriate agency if there is a need to apply for additional benefits Analyze and interpret information of a complex nature pertaining to the Health and Human Services Department Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with both internal and external customers in person, via phone, email and in writing Gather/organize client financial information to assist with income tax and Wisconsin Homestead Credit preparation for the client Keep current on pertinent county, state, and federal regulations, which pertain to the Representative Payee Program Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions in order to fulfill the duties of the position Responsible to request payments via online banking as needed Responsible to keep an accurate payment register in required software Responsible to arrange for deposits intoclient accounts Obtain information from various sources internally and externally in order to complete forms, documents, records, etc. Maintain spreadsheets as needed for the department or for client information Maintain accurate and complete client information Assist and back up other team members and/or departments as required Adhere to the confidentiality policy of the department in addition to Federal and State privacy laws Annually update/maintain job process and duties Attend required meetings/trainings and those recommended by Supervisor NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Perform related functions as assigned for Human Services MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED: General office equipment Computer PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lifting 30 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds Intermittent standing, walking and sitting; occasional driving Using hand(s) for repetitive single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, and operating controls Occasional bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, reaching, and grappling Communicating orally in a clear manner Distinguishing sounds at various frequencies and volumes Distinguishing people or objects at varied distance under a variety of light conditions ** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of various possible benefits for clients Knowledge of general office practices and skill in the application of those practices Knowledge of and ability to utilize a computer, online payment applications and the required software Knowledge of accounting/budgeting Ability to operate standard office equipment Ability to perform full data entry functions at a rate of 80 net keystrokes per minute Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions Ability to make basic arithmetic calculations Ability to learnand apply specialized knowledge and skills of the department Ability to assume responsibility and work independently Ability to maintain emotional stability in stress situations Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public Ability to maintain records and reports accurately Ability to maintain the confidential nature of client and business information Ability to work the required hours of the position ** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Apply Online: https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/browncounty
