On-Orbit Operations is a unique career path that offers an early career engineering to learn about all aspects of a space mission, including satellite subsystems, payloads, orbital dynamics and planning, and real time command and control of satellites. Northrop Grumman's Tactical Space Systems Division provides command/control, mission planning, flight dynamics, and sustaining engineering support for existing national security assets and future missions. We are currently looking to fill either the Associate Flight Controller or Flight Controller positions on our operations team, and are able to train the right person to fill the role and accomplish the following duties:

Provide mission operations support to Satellite programs including flight control.

Support system maintenance activities such as procedure updates, architecture upkeep, and formal program milestones.

Work with systems engineers to conduct anomaly review board investigations as necessary.

Conduct testing using simulators and resolve discrepancies.

Develop and test command procedures, telemetry pages, and other products derived from vendor provided documentation

Support operations readiness activities including configuration control board and other customer meetings

Support operations, including shift work which will include 12 hour and night shifts

Monitor vehicle state of health across all subsystems and perform short and long-term telemetry trending.

Track space vehicle configuration, to include both hardware, software, and configurable item parameters.

Make modifications to existing operations procedures to incorporate lessons learned from in-flight performance. Develop new procedures as required.

·Provide status reporting through both the functional and program reporting branches.

Maintain standards associated with the established Integrated/Developmental Operations functional group processes.

Support internal and external customer meetings through proficient verbal and documented (MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel) communications.

May require travel ~ 10% of the time for support of customer or backup mission operations center.

Basic Qualifications:

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

Be completing (Bachelor's or Master's) from an accredited institution.(equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)

US Citizen

Basic scripting experience (e.g. PERL, STOL, Python)

Ability to work weekends and holidays

Ability to support night shift

Ability to support 100% on site work in Colorado Springs, CO

ExistingTop Secret/SCI clearance required at time of application

Preferred Qualifications:

Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.7/4.0 or higher

Prior experience conducting on-orbit mission operations

Experience working on government systems and/or government process environment

Experience with at least one S/C Subsystem (ADCS, CDH, COMM, EPDS, Thermal, FSW).

Experience in ground system update and/or maintenance

Experience operating Tactical Space Systems bus product lines is strongly desired.

Experience using Tactical Space Systems ground software products is strongly desired.

Associate Spacecraft Operation Salary Range

Dulles, VA $67,400 - $101,000

Gilbert, AZ $58,200 - $87,200

Spacecraft Operation Salary Range

Dulles, VA $81,300 - $121,900

Gilbert, AZ $70,200 - $105,400
