Responsibilities
Job Summary:
The Director of Market Access is responsible for developing and executing strategies that support reimbursement, provider adoption, and patient access for the company's medical device portfolio in the U.S. This role plays a key part in enabling successful product launches by navigating the reimbursement landscape-including coding, coverage, and payment-and supporting healthcare provider institutions in integrating gaining access to new technologies.
The role collaborates closely with internal teams (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Clinical Affairs, Training) and external stakeholders (e.g., payers, providers, billing/coding consultants) to ensure that access-related barriers are identified and addressed. The position requires a strong understanding of U.S. payer systems and provider billing processes, and the ability to translate policy and reimbursement requirements into practical strategies and tools. Over time this role will expand to lead a field-based team that expands the regional physician and account engagement.
Responsibilities:
Development and execution of comprehensive national and regional market access strategies by identifying barriers and opportunities in coverage and payment for coronary and peripheral technologies.
Lead structured field insight gathering from providers, payers, and internal stakeholders to identify trends in reimbursement performance and payer behavior. Translate insights into actionable strategies that inform pricing, evidence generation, and commercial planning.
Act as the primary market access liaison for key hospital systems, billing departments, and payer representatives. Build and maintain relationships that enable proactive resolution of access challenges and foster institutional readiness for adoption of innovative procedures.
Support the development todeliver compelling value propositions. Take ownership of disseminating clinical and economic evidence for hospital value analysis committees by partnering with training teams to integrate economic messaging into the field team resources
Function as the internal and external expert on reimbursement pathways, coding, and billing for coronary DCB and related PCI procedures. Provide high-level advisory support to provider institutions, helping them navigate coding complexities, optimize billing processes, and achieve compliant reimbursement.
Manage complex access and reimbursement escalations with autonomy. Provide on-site and virtual expert guidance to resolve claim denials, appeal challenges, and billing disputes-ensuring institutions are equipped to secure appropriate payment.
Build a field-based team to expand the support and engagement with key customers and hospital systems driving expanded adoption of the Cordis portfolio.
Represent Cordis at CMS and industry meetings ensuring appropriate representation and engagement that influence coding, coverage, and payment of Cordis technologies and pipeline.
Expected Areas of Competencies:
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and training skills.
Self-starter with ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment.
Strong understanding of U.S. coding systems (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS), payment methodologies (DRG, APC, TPT), and CMS regulations and review cycles
Proven ability to engage with hospital administration, revenue cycle, and payer stakeholders.
Track record of supporting successful product launches from a market access/reimbursement perspective.
Ability to interpret healthcare policy, coding, and payment rules and translate them into actionable strategies.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
15+ years of experience in relevant roles, specifically with 8+ years in healthcare reimbursement within a medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
Bachelor's degree required, Masters in health policy, public health, business, RN, RT, or related field preferred.
Combined education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills:
Demonstrated experience in cardiovascular reimbursement or interventional cardiology markets highly preferred.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally, estimated 50% travel
