Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer ( 3/4) to join our Environmental, Health, Safety, and Fire Protection team at the BWI site in Baltimore, Maryland . The selected applicant will be responsible for successfully implementing and managing all environmental, health, and safety programs with a focus in industrial hygiene related programs. Must have excellent oral and written communication and collaboration skills with all levels in an organization.
What You'll Get to Do:
Oversees and performs tasks for the following industrial hygiene programs: hearing conservation (noise survey and dosimetry), ventilation surveys, hazard communications (including safety data sheet and chemical inventory management), field sampling, asphyxiant exposure analysis, cryogenics, laser safety, and incident investigations.
Supports and performs tasks for the following industrial hygiene programs: indoor air quality, respiratory protection and fit testing, air monitoring, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, radioactive materials, ergonomics (including ergonomic assessments and workstation evaluations), and asbestos/lead abatement.
Conducts job hazard assessments and recommends appropriate hazard control approaches.
Develops, implements, and maintains industrial hygiene programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.
Conducts internal compliance inspections to identify actions necessary to meet regulatory requirements.
Partners with management to continuously improve the culture, awareness and accountability in support of EHS programs.
Partners with engineers, scientists, and management to support the integration of EHS into the design of new or altered processes and operations and building construction projects.
Interfaces with regulatory representatives, senior management, the site EHS Committee, and the Emergency Response, and Crisis Management teams.
Provides timely and accurate submission of necessary reports to internal stakeholders, electronic databases and regulatory agencies.
Reviews and interprets existing and proposed environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations to determine applicability and impact for site with a focus on industrial hygiene.
Reviews new construction and renovation plans for EHS aspects.
Writes and updates EHS plans and procedures with focus of industrial hygiene.
Performs in-person and develops online EHS training for employees and management focused on industrial hygiene programs.
Supports the site's environmental, safety, and fire protection programs.
The position can be filled at a Level 3 or 4.
Basic Qualifications for Level 3 :
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in industrial hygiene, safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety field with a focus in industrial hygiene; OR a Master's degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience as listed above.
Must be a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
Experience in conducting noise surveys and dosimetry, ventilation surveys, respiratory protection and fit testing, field sampling, asphyxiant exposure analysis, cryogenics study, and incident investigations.
Experience in laser safety and hazard communication programs (including safety data sheet and chemical inventory management).
Experience in conducting personal protective equipment assessments, air monitoring, and job hazard analysis.
Experience in conducting in person training and developing online training for various industrial hygiene related topics.
Experience with managing various industrial hygiene programs (with a specific emphasis on hearing conservation, ventilation, laser safety, ergonomics and asphyxiant exposure) based on the review and interpretation of regulations and standards.
Experience conducting in-person and developing online EHS training to various @types of audience.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
(U.S. Citizenship required).
Basic Qualifications for Level 4 :
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in industrial hygiene, safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related field, and a minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety field with a focus in industrial hygiene; OR a Master's degree and a minimum of 6 years of related experience as listed above.
Must be a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
Experience in conducting noise surveys and dosimetry, ventilation surveys, respiratory protection and fit testing, field sampling, asphyxiant exposure analysis, cryogenics study, ergonomics assessments, and incident investigations.
Experience in laser safety and hazard communication programs (including safety data sheet and chemical inventory management).

Preferred Qualifications :
Master of Science (MS) degree in industrial hygiene, safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related field, or currently enrolled in an M.S. degree program.
Experience with supporting EHS programs for manufacturing and construction operations.
Computer based skills specifically with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point programs.
Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Tableau.
Experience in interacting with a union labor workforce.
Salary Range: $95,800.00 - $143,600.00Salary Range 2: $119,200.00 - $178,800.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
