The Executive Director, Growth Marketing and Communications will be based out of a home office located anywhere within the contiguous United States (Pacific, Mountain, Central, and Eastern time zones) or United States territories that fall within the Atlantic time zone.???
Position Overview ?
The Executive Director, Growth Marketing and Communications leads the strategic direction and day-to-day execution of marketing and promotion for a flagship program at New Leaders. This role blends high-level marketing strategy with hands-on ownership of campaigns, content, digital channels, and lead generation. The Executive Director will manage integrated marketing strategies focused on generating awareness and leads through digital campaigns, discoverability, narrative-driven storytelling, referral marketing, high-visibility national events, and strategic content development across platforms.
The Executive Director, Growth Marketing and Communications will use their deep knowledge of B2B and B2C education markets and will collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and strategic partners to develop and execute performance-driven marketing campaigns that advance brand awareness, stakeholder engagement, and donor and prospective student inquiries.
The Executive Director reports to the Senior Executive Director, Marketing and Communications.
Specific Responsibilities ?
Brand & Growth Strategy
Develop and execute the growth marketing strategy for a high-priority product line, integrating narrative-driven storytelling to enhance brand visibility and generate qualified inquiries.
Lead partner activation strategy, owning the development of co-branded assets, campaign execution, and messaging alignment to drive inquiry generation across school system and channel partners.
Craft and evolve core narratives and compelling stories that clearly articulate program value and impact.
Develop clear, consistent messaging that supports thought leadership, media engagement, and strategic stakeholder communications.
Content & Storytelling Leadership
Lead the creation of high-impact storytelling assets (e.g., participant and alumni profiles, success stories, blogs, white papers, videos) to reinforce brand narrative and drive engagement across recruitment, development, and partner channels.
Design and deliver product training for the External Relations team to ensure consistent, confident communication of program features and differentiators.
Build and maintain compelling proposal templates, fact sheets, and presentation decks aligned with evolving narratives and stakeholder needs.
Digital Campaign Management
Own top-of-the-funnel digital campaign execution across email/SMS, paid media, search, and retargeting, optimizing for lead quality and cost-efficiency.
Manage CRM-integrated campaigns using HubSpot and Salesforce, ensuring segmentation, automation, and performance tracking are configured effectively.
Oversee SEO and content strategies to increase organic visibility and drive qualified website traffic.
Develop and execute social media strategy with an active content calendar and audience analytics tracking.
Optimize product website(s) for UX, content accuracy, lead capture, and real-time analytics.
Monitor KPIs across all marketing channels and adjust tactics in real time to maximize ROI.
Event & Partner Marketing
Design and manage affiliate marketing strategies that activate alumni, partners, and influencers through performance-based referral campaigns.
Identify and execute high-visibility conferences and events that elevate brand presence and generate leads among key audiences.
Develop and manage virtual and in-person event strategies that convert interest into inquiries and applications.
Support implementation and promotion of events identified by other External Relations team members, providing marketing strategy, collateral, and execution support.
Content Systems & Operational Infrastructure
Maintain a centralized content library with updated assets, campaign materials, and messaging guides for cross-functional use.
Document marketing workflows and systems in a centralized infrastructure to ensure continuity and scalability.
Oversee production and procurement of photo and video assets to support storytelling, recruitment, and development goals.
Budget, Vendor, & Cross-Functional Management
Own and manage the marketing budget for assigned programs, allocating resources based on growth targets and campaign performance.
Lead marketing projects and manage external vendors and consultants to ensure high-quality execution.
Collaborate with Product, Partnerships, Recruitment, and Development to ensure alignment and integration across external-facing workstreams.
Team & Organizational Leadership
Provide mentorship and strategic support to the Marketing team and broader organization, including participation in senior leadership planning and industry trend analysis.

Qualifications and Competencies ?
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree required; degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred.
Professional Experience: Minimum10 years of professional experience in digital marketing, brand development, social media engagement, content development, product marketing, communications, or lead generation required.
Team-Driven: Demonstrated ability to work well with people from a wide variety of demographic and cultural characteristics. The ideal candidate must be capable of achieving results while maintaining an inclusive, collaborative leadership style.?

Demonstrated experience owning and executing integrated campaigns across email, paid media, SEO, content, and social platforms.
Proficiency in HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, and digital ad platforms.
Deep understanding of both B2B and B2C marketing strategies within education.
Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
Experience managing budgets and external partners or agencies.
Exceptional writing, storytelling, and message development skills.
Comfort navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment.
Ability to develop annual goals, identify leading indicators of success, and adjust strategy and use of resources based on performance.
Expertise in managing and optimizing product-specific websites to enhance performance and user experience.
Skilled in implementing SEO strategies and overseeing content development to increase organic traffic and build awareness including key word bidding strategies.
Experience in designing and managing effective paid advertising and key word bidding campaigns.
Proven experience developing content and storytelling strategies that increase engagement, drive conversion, and elevate brand voice across multi-channel campaigns.
Strong editorial instincts and experience leading content teams or managing cross-functional communications workflows.
Ability to coordinate and execute events to support marketing objectives.
Capability to provide strategic tools and resources to enhance sales team performance.
Proficiency in social media campaigns.
Knowledge of graphic design principles and tools (preferred but not required).
Deep understanding of the education sector, including audience nuances and market dynamics.
Ability to analyze data, develop insights, and strategize solutions for marketing effectiveness.
Up to 30% travel required, in accordance with New Leaders' travel policies.
Physical Requirements ?
The employee's routine activities involve sitting, talking, and hearing, as well as using hands for tasks such as typing, filing, and handling objects. Visual acuity is necessary for keyboard use, data analysis, transcribing, computer terminal viewing, and extensive reading. The role may involve ordinary ambulatory skills for visits to other locations or the ability to perform activities like standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and moving light-weight items. Proficiency in hand-eye coordination, along with dexterity in arms, hands, and fingers for tasks like grasping, operating standard office equipment, and learning technical information, is essential.????
