Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia. This is a long-term contract position, ideal for someone with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices and attention to detail. The role is an excellent opportunity to contribute your expertise to a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage the month-end close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded properly.

Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Perform detailed account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and alignment with financial records.

Assist in preparing financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and complete financial data.

Provide support for audits and compliance activities as required.

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and implement best practices. Requirements

Proven experience in managing month-end close processes and financial reporting.

Solid knowledge of general ledger management and reconciliation.

Proficiency in preparing journal entries and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Strong proficiency with Deltek Costpoint.

Familiarity with financial statement preparation and reporting requirements.

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field of study. CPA (or CPA in process) is highly preferred.

Experience with audit support and compliance activities including FAR/CFR.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
