At Virgin Galactic, the Analyst, Build and Integration serves a critical role in Production Planning for our purpose-built Spaceship Factory based out of Pheonix/Mesa, AZ. The successful candidate will perform duties onsite by monitoring work-in-progress as it moves through various shops and stations within the facility and removing any barriers to execution or escalating accordingly. Guided by our values, "Safety above All", we proactively manage the risks inherent in human spaceflight through our daily actions in the design and assembly efforts. This role will support the execution of our Delta build projects in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Provide daily communication with Build Management to ensure the successful completion of projects regarding quality, cost and schedule
Liaise with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to develop and maintain Manufacturing Bill of Material (MBOM) structure to ensure a smooth and efficient transition to the production team
Oversee and track efforts between all manufacturing and engineering functions to properly support the build schedule by means of identifying tooling, materials, resources, planning, and product definition to ensure a seamless transition from paper to reality
Communicate material, tool, and equipment shortages to Build Management and support scheduling recovery plans with engineering/manufacturing to provide conflict resolutions
Work with production planning to ensure assembly flow is properly supported by all functions to deliver material and hardware on schedule
Uses knowledge of production, procurement, and engineering departments to alert proper groups regarding potential problems and appropriate remedial action
Coordinate and facilitate weekly two-week lookahead meetings with the Manufacturing team for up-to-date job status updates and future work planning
Communicate and coordinate completion of tasks through manufacturing and Build Management
Drive safety behavior and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) awareness/prevention; ensure adherence to regulatory protocols and rules
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a related field such as: Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, or science discipline and /or combination of education and relevant work experience
3+ years' experience in aircraft fabrication and assembly, or similarly complex aerospace/defense products
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and leading or participating in process improvement workshops
Lead by example in safety, prioritizing good housekeeping, tool accountability, and the responsible handling of all hazardous materials and chemicals
Demonstrated computer and analytical skills including proficiency in MS Suite, MS Project manufacturing software or related programs, dashboards, and scheduling software
Familiar with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed
Must be able to stand for extended periods - 8 plus hours minimum
Preferred Skills and Experience
Strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing functions
Technical knowledge of component assembly, both subassembly and final top-level assembly
Understanding of schedule, quality, and budget relationship
Working knowledge of configuration management practices and quality management processes
Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with other teams through influential leadership
Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, combined with a strong commercial acumen to measure the potential impact of each decision
Knowledge of lean manufacturing (Kaizen/Six Sigma) philosophies and tools
Ability to work independently and cross-functionally
Set clear objectives and milestones
Communicate clearly and with transparency

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $69,550.00-$100,925.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
