Robert Half has partnered with a successful client within the property management industry on their search for a Property Accountant. As the Property Accountant, you will manage all accounting transactions, assist with journal entry preparation, analyze leasing costs, review market lease reconciliations, perform accounting analysis, review and approve vendor invoices, assist with the year-end financial audit process, prepare monthly bank reconciliations, review and maintain property budget, and assist with annual entity tax returns. The ideal candidate for this role should have strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, experience with real estate accounting software, and advanced financial analysis skills.

What you get to do daily

Review invoices and bills for accuracy, assign them to appropriate accounts, and prepare checks for payment.

Handle bank deposits using remote deposit scanning software and ensure timely processing.

Collaborate closely with property management teams to ensure timely receipt of checks and invoices for all property locations.

Address and resolve issues related to payment delinquencies and other financial discrepancies.

Record daily General Ledger entries and complete month-end journal entries.

Manage accounts payable processes and oversee disbursement activities.

Prepare monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss reports and Balance Sheets.

Perform bank reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.

Conduct general office tasks to support accounting operations.

Requirements

The ideal Property Accountant will have a Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.

Other requirements for the Property Accountant role include and are not limited to:

3+ years of relevant experience

Experience in accounting within real estate, construction, property management

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel)

Good verbal and written communications

Strong analytical and accounting skills
