Staff Accountant - Construction

A well-established construction company in Carlsbad is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join their finance team. Known for their high-quality commercial and residential projects, this company values precision, collaboration, and long-term growth. This role offers a mix of hands-on accounting work and strategic financial support, ideal for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic, project-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts

Assist with job costing and project budget tracking

Support month-end and year-end close processes

Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation entries

Collaborate with project managers and vendors on financial reporting

Help prepare financial statements and support external audits

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based industries

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, QuickBooks)

Strong Excel skills and attention to detail

Understanding of job costing and WIP reporting is a plus
