The Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Operating Unit (OU) is a newly formed team with a bold mission: to consolidate, simplify, and accelerate Microsoft's presence across the DIB landscape. This expansive network includes over 100,000 organizations specializing in manufacturing, aviation, cybersecurity, and more-all united in their support of all Federal Agencies, including the U.S. Department of Defense and other mission-based intelligence and civilian organizations.

The DIB OU will directly manage and accelerate strategic and major DIB accounts across Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPS) Americas, while also enabling growth across other OUs and Small, Medium, Enterprise & Corporate (SME&C). We're building new relationships, transforming legacy operations, and helping our customers modernize with confidence.
We are currently looking for Cloud Solution Architect - Cloud & AI Data to join our team.
As a Cloud Solution Architect , you will empower customers to achieve their goals through their investments in Microsoft technology. Leveraging your expertise, you'll guide technical discussions to help customers unlock the full potential of their Microsoft solutions, including identifying resolutions to issues blocking customer success projects. Responsibilities
Responsible for leading the modernization of customer data estates using Microsoft's cloud-native services by designing and deploying secure, scalable architectures with Azure Data Services, Synapse, Fabric, and Purview.
Aligning data platform strategies to mission outcomes, especially in regulated and classified environments.
Supporting both commercial defense contractors and federal agencies through tailored data solutions, integrating Zero Trust principles, data governance, and compliance frameworks (e.g., ITAR, CMMC, FedRAMP).
Ensure data security across GCC, GCCH, and sovereign cloud environments and collaborate with security CSAs to deliver Purview, Information Protection, and Insider Risk Management capabilities.
Proficiency in opportunity identification, business acumen, and operational excellence. Ability to lead architecture whiteboarding sessions and live demos.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field AND 2+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting
OR equivalent experience
Technical expertise in two or more of the following: Azure Data Services, Synapse, Databricks, Fabric, and Purview.
Experience delivering data platform modernization in regulated or classified environments.
Other Requirements
Cloud Screening: Candidates must be able to successfully complete and pass a Microsoft Cloud background screening. Required Cloud Screenings will be administered on a recurring bi-annual basis.
Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field AND 4+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field AND 2+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting
OR equivalent experience
2+ years experience with cloud and hybrid, or on premises infrastructure, architecture designs, migrations, industry standards, and/or technology management
Familiarity with MCEM, Unified Delivery, and Factory engagement models.
Proven ability to drive customer adoption, usage, and renewals in enterprise environments.
Experience leading technical sales or success activities for Microsoft Data and Analytics, Google Cloud Data and Analytics Platform, or AWS Data and Analytics Platform offerings
Working knowledge on Azure Databases (SQL DB, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL) from migration & modernize and creating new AI apps
Working knowledge on Azure Analytics (Fabric, Azure Databricks, Purview) and competitors (BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake) in data warehouse, data lake, big data, analytics, real-time intelligent, and reporting using integrated Data Security & Governance
Working knowledge of DevSecOps practices and technologies including GitHub or Azure DevOps
Working knowledge of NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171 and NIST 800-172 and CMMC audit and certification requirements
Working Knowledge on data warehouse & big data migration including on-prem appliance (Teradata, Netezza, Oracle), Hadoop (Cloudera, Hortonworks) and Azure Synapse Gen2
Working knowledge and application of Zero Trust Principles
Cloud Solution Architecture IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,100 - $169,800 per year.
There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $112,000 - $185,300 per year.
