Role Summary/Purpose:
The Assistant Vice President role is responsible for providing compliance and operational risk guidance to the Marketing organization. This role is responsible for executing or participating in various risk management activities such as the identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of risk related to the marketing organization's partners, systems and tools.
The AVP will provide compliance support for various processes within Synchrony's Growth organization with a special emphasis on the processes within the Marketing function.

Essential Responsibilities:
Assist in the performance of the annual risk assessment, assessing inherent risk and control effectiveness of various Synchrony Marketing processes
Assist in the evaluation of the design and effectiveness of controls to mitigate identified risks and in the performance of concurrent reviews associated with significant business changes
Provide expert advice and influence changes to processes, procedures, and controls to mitigate compliance risk through various interactions and forums.
Participate in incident/issues management discussions with the appropriate partners to assist in process gaps being addressed and/or risk accepted
Assist in the identification of risk associated with (1) new laws and regulations, including industry consent orders and regulatory guidance and (2) business-initiated changes.
Provide support for any key regulatory and litigation developments impacting Synchrony, including gathering requested information
Assist in the development of communications and training materials to educate process leaders, employees and 3rd party suppliers as it relates to applicable compliance and operational risk
Establish effective relationships with all functional areas
Ensure significant risks are promptly escalated to the appropriate level
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or in lieu of degree, 7+ years of financial services and/or governance experience
3+ years of Compliance, Risk, Audit, or governance/issue remediation experience in the financial services industry. Experience in the credit card/ lending industry a plus.

The salary range for this position is 90 ,000.00 - 155,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
