The Senior Communications and Grants Specialist strategizes and defines communication plans that foster community engagement with Anoka County Attorney's Office resources and programs through marketing, branding, and community partnerships. The Specialist collates data and presents it an annual report. This role is also responsible for assisting with the grant management and proposal process as well as assisting office administration with internal communications with staff. This is a full-time, exempt, on-site position. Interviews will be held in-person the week of September 15 for those selected to move forward in the hiring process. Work Location This position will work at the Anoka County Government Center in Anoka. Expected work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Schedule may vary based on business needs and supervisory approval. Job Duties and Responsibilities These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Senior Communications and Grants Specialist. Act as a liaison and point of contact with community members, media, local agencies, law enforcement, judiciary and other court and justice partners on behalf of Anoka County. Develop goals and implement public communication strategies to help maintain a positive public image for the County Attorney's Office. Develop goals and implement internal communications strategies to provide a healthy, positive culture within the County Attorney's Office. Prepare and disseminate information through newspapers, periodicals, television, radio, and social media. Respond to media inquiries and news regarding legal cases handled by the County Attorney's Office. Plan, coordinate, and host community, media, and general events to distribute information intended to keep the public informed of programs, accomplishments, or point of view ensuring compliance with laws pertaining to public information, data privacy and data practices. Design and draft a quarterly Attorney's Office newsletter and an annual report with input from the office's leadership team. Coordinate response to requests for data and information on cases, redacting appropriate information when necessary, and sending notifications to the appropriate parties. Work with the leadership team to establish standards for grant proposals. Assist in the drafting and review of proposals to ensure completeness and compliance. Work with the Anoka County Finance Department liaison to maintain records of funding sources and grant applicants. Assist the County Attorney, Chief Deputy County Attorney, and Office Manager with communication inside and outside of the office and as a resource to the office's employees. Provide leadership, coaching, guidance, and/or mentoring where authorized by the County Attorney. Liaison with other County departments as directed by the Attorney's Office Management Team. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of job-related experience in a communication and/or human resources field. In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Successfully pass a fingerprint-based criminal history background check. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed Degree in Communications, Journalism or related field Knowledge of grant reporting Ability to analyze, develop and interpret rules, regulations, policies and practices Strong verbal and written communication skills Mastery of social media and other forms of marketing Work Environment: Standard office environment Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers.
