Summary The primary purpose of this position is to manage all Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) and Beneficial Travel (BT) Program activities, including patient transport, Special Mode Travel (SMT), mileage reimbursement claims, transportation contracts, 911 ambulance claims, inter-facility transfers, and common carrier transportation. Responsibilities Duties include but are not limited to: Manage all Veterans Transportation (VTS) Service and Beneficial Travel (BT) Program activities. Supervise/ensures the VTS and BT processes comply with regulatory guidance. Serves as the Contracting Officer Representative for all transportation contracts. Oversees the scheduling of routine, urgent and emergent transportation for Veterans. Completes the Needs, Resources and Stakeholders Assessment in collaboration with the other Services. Utilizes the Needs, Resources and Stakeholders Assessment to develop a Three Year Development Business Plan. Manages the appropriate utilization of the Vet Ride System, including all the Administrative Portal. Identifies resources (staffing, funding, equipment, facilities) required to support varied level of program operations. Develops, analyzes, evaluates, advises on, or improves the effectiveness of work methods and procedures. Organizes manpower utilization, and distribution of work assignments. Provides consistent and effective outreach to community transit authorities and develops Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs). Conducts complex and special studies for efficiency and productivity and recommends changes or improvements in work methods. Analyzes and evaluates Transportation functions and activities being considered for conversion to contact operations. Possess and maintains knowledge of, and collaborative relationships with United We Ride, State Departments of Transportation. Ensures effective integration of efforts/activities with other medical center operations. Collaborates with service providers in local communities to serve Veterans' transportation needs.
