Job Description:

The USPS is looking for a Systems Engineer/ Application Packager to support the team with tasks focusing on software distribution updates, removal of outdated software on endpoints for ~200K enterprise laptops and workstations (combined); provide support services such as IP migration for printers, user migrations to new hardware, asset inventory database modification, support and maintenance.
HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Package applications using Microsoft Windows PowerShell (v5).
Develop installation packages for windows, printers, and mobile device platforms
Provide End-user hardware/software migration/upgrade support.
Deploy software updates to respond to security vulnerabilities.
Packaging for reimaging failed or problematic machines
Perform system health checks along with developing PowerShell scripts to remediate issues found during health checks
Operate, maintain, and provide support for a wide variety of complex technology components.
Independently analyze and develop innovative resolutions for complex problems involving availability and/or performance at the component level. Work with Suppliers to resolve problems and implement approved solutions independently.
Perform capacity and performance analyses and develop and implement recommendations.
Analyze and resolve complex hardware and software problems with distributed systems.
Perform tests and implement hardware/software adds, changes, backup, and restoration functions, etc.
Provide documentation of solutions to problems.
Edit computer-based documentation and trouble ticket systems to document equipment configurations, track changes, track issues, and compile performance data.
Monitor trouble tickets in the support queue to address deployment/packaging/automation projects impact. Take corrective action to address issues.
Create change requests, in compliance with existing procedures, for change management.
Perform user assistance, training, and information sharing.
Provide on-site system or application support for deployment/installation as required.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Required Experience :
5+ years of relevant and progressive experience in a distributed computing environment is preferred
Education:
A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is preferred.
NOTE: If resources do not have a relevant college degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
Required skills :
Hands-on experience with Tanium, MECM (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager), Ivanti MDM/Neurons, Active Directory technologies.
Ability to develop scripted solutions to evaluate, identify and remediate, when necessary, issues related to computer system health, i.e. status of critical services, restarting failed services, low disk space, high CPU utilization, review event logs for issues, etc.
Maintain project plans as required and notify management of critical failures and/or missed milestones.
Provide hardware/software support for in-place OS upgrades to Windows 10 or higher
Develop automated scripts to expedite support needs
Desired Skills:
Provide support for installing/troubleshooting Microsoft Office O365 and other Microsoft Office services and resources.
Ability to develop solutions using PowerShell, VBScript, etc. to identify and/or remediate problems/issues/requirements related to Microsoft Workplace Modernization efforts; Windows 10 Semi-Annual Channel (SAC) (and above) and Office M365 Apps.
Collaborate/interact with other diverse functional groups to accomplish stated objectives.
Develop recommendations and procedures for implementation of new hardware/software products and applications, suitable for presentations.
Independently install, test, and implement complex component-level changes within the technology infrastructure.
Develop, plan, and manage project tasks.
Develop and maintain specialized knowledge of current and emerging technologies within assigned division or platform.

Security Clearance Level:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
This position has a U.S. residency requirement. The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.

The likely salary range for this position is $43,888 - $0. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
