Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team in Whitehall, Michigan. This role offers an excellent opportunity for growth, with a clear path to transition into an Assistant Controller position. Ideal candidates will possess strong technical skills, a passion for accuracy, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Oversee daily accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and reconciliations.

Ensure financial statements are accurate and comply with company policies and relevant regulations.

Assist in the completion of month-end and year-end closing processes.

Prepare detailed accounting schedules and supporting documentation for financial reports.

Collaborate with the Controller to conduct variance analysis and create management reports.

Support external audits by organizing and providing requested financial documentation.

Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.

Develop expertise in operational and strategic finance functions to prepare for higher-level responsibilities.

Participate in training led by senior management to facilitate a smooth transition to the Assistant Controller role.

Maintain compliance with federal, state, and company-specific financial regulations. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or manufacturing setting.

Proficiency in accounting software and advanced knowledge of Excel.

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.

Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.

Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking abilities.

Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and general ledger management.

Certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred but not required.
