Manufacturing Engineering role associated with Polymer Matrix Composites (PMC) manufacturing. Responsible for planning/execution of technical projects to improve Safety/Quality/Delivery/Cost (SQDC). Leads activities within the composites part family working with technical experts/key stakeholders from across the business. Seeking a skilled manufacturing engineer with the ability to lead efforts aligned with business level objectives and the drive to expand individual technical proficiency/knowledge in PMC manufacturing.
Job Description
This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead impactful projects, drive innovation in composites manufacturing, and contribute to the advancement of aerospace technologies.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams (design engineering, quality, materials, and manufacturing) to drive initiatives within the composites supply chain (internal and external suppliers).
Manage action plans and prioritize efforts based on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC), with Safety as the top priority.
Drive manufacturing improvements in Polymer Matrix Composite (PMC) equipment and process technology, focusing on layup, resin transfer molding, autoclave curing, and press curing processes.
Develop and implement strategies to optimize production efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality using lean manufacturing principles.
Monitor, track, and communicate project status, issues, and developments to key stakeholders in the Composites business.
Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in PMC manufacturing.
Pursue technical growth through training programs, online courses, certifications, and workshops.
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the manufacturing organization.
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with aerospace special process control and quality management systems.
Serve as a technical leader and mentor, supporting team members' professional development.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering position.
Desired Characteristics:
Hands-on experience in composites manufacturing, including PMC processes such as layup, resin transfer molding, and autoclave curing.
Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and delivery of complex initiatives.
Proven ability to lead and influence others without direct reporting relationships.
Desire to pursue a technical career path leading to roles as a Certifying Agent (CA) and/or Controlled Title Holder (CTH).
Experience with aerospace special process control and quality management systems.
Transparent communicator who shares critical information, speaks with candor, and contributes constructively.
Analytical problem solver with a critical-thinking mindset, capable of challenging existing processes and driving innovative solutions.
Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time (or as project requirements dictate).
