Job Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Accountant 1 position within Facilities Planning and Management at Oregon State University ( OSU ).
The Accountant 1 position within Facilities Planning and Management uses generally accepted accounting principles to administer and process accounting transactions for all our supported units.
The position reports to the Director of Capital Accounting and Financial Planning in Financial Services and will be part of Facilities Planning and Management ( FPM ). FPM supports Oregon State University's land grant mission by overseeing the design and development, land use planning, real estate and space management needs for Oregon State University's built environments.
The Accountant 1 will be responsible for invoice processing, entering deposits, journal voucher transactions, and statement reconciliation as needed. Responsibilities include aiding department stakeholders, connecting with external vendors and resolving accounts payable issues.

Key Responsibilities
70% Accounting & Reconciliations
Applies relevant accounting methods and controls to accurately and efficiently process accounts payable transactions.
Process journal voucher entries as needed to properly record or correct transactions.
Prepare deposits, track payment, and reconcile accounts.
Responsible for reporting prepaid expenses and year-end accruals for financial reporting accuracy.
10% Customer Service
Focuses on excellent customer service, with co-workers, staff, vendors, and customers to research and resolve any problems that may arise.
Communicates and trains others within our unit on AP procedures, maintaining current training materials and SOPs.
10% Fee Book
Assist departments with the calculation, review, and submission of proposals for new or changing internal and external fees for products and services.
Actively engage with departments to improve their processes for calculating proposing fees.
Work with the units to ensure established fees have been integrated into their billing processes
10% Other
Perform other duties as assigned.
What We Require
Bachelor's degree with CPA or PA certificate;
OR
Bachelor's degree with 30 quarter (20 semester) hours of college-level Accounting;
OR
30 quarter (20 semester) hours of Accounting courses and three years of Accounting experience
Accounting experience must include at least 3 of the following:
Preparing transactions to be recorded in records of original entry;
Preparing journal entries, posting from journals to general ledger, or preparing original general ledger entries;
Summarizing data from a ledger to a trial balance;
Closing accounts at the end of an accounting period;
Applying PC spreadsheet, database, and word processing software; Processing data using a computer.
Transcripts must be submitted for all required and/or related courses. All courses must be from accredited colleges, universities, or private vocational schools.
What You Will Need
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Experience with large enterprise accounting systems.
Ability to work at a high proficiency level with applications such as Microsoft Office Suite; Excel and MS Word.
Experience successfully meeting deadlines and prioritizing work with minimum direction.
Demonstrate ability to effectively and positively collaborate with stakeholders.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
What We Would Like You to Have
Experience entering and reviewing accounting transactions (e.g. accounts payable invoices, journal entries, purchase order matching, and statement reconciliations).
Experience documenting, analyzing, and improving financial and accounting processes.
Experience working in Higher Education and fund accounting.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Typically works in an office environment. Must have ability to sit or stand while working on a computer for extended periods. Occasional weekend and evening work. Hybrid work scheduled available with supervisor approval.
