DIVISION DESCRIPTION

ITW's Automotive segment designs and manufactures innovative fasteners, interior and exterior components, and powertrain and braking systems for OEMs and their top-tier suppliers. ITW's automotive businesses have a high level of customer intimacy, enabling customer-back innovation to address complex needs such as vehicle efficiency, safety, and quality. Deep market knowledge and strong manufacturing process capabilities allow ITW's automotive businesses to be nimble, niche problem solvers for their sophisticated customers.

The Smart Components Division drives profitability by leveraging its innovative solutions and application engineering. In addition to ITW's industry-leading research and development capabilities, ITW Smart Components enhances our customers' competitive advantage. Smart Components is a business group within ITW's Automotive segment with manufacturing locations in North America. Our products are made up of housings and doors, innovative Capless solutions and charge ports for major OEMs around the world.

SUMMARY

Develops manufacturing processes that achieve maximum process and cost efficiency while achieving performance and quality standards.? Determines cost and routes for new product and maintains current products records structure to ensure effective control of documentation.? Assures operational readiness; determines factory capability, workflow, space requirements, and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Identify opportunities for and implement improvements in current practices and processes and work with team to develop/maintain continuous improvement culture and awareness.

Conduct product and process flow analysis and implement improvements for costs, productivity and quality.

Direct and coordinate the engineering support to implement, plan, develop and organize product area

Drive the development and implementation of the safety policies and quality policies

Drives application of the ITW Toolbox & Root Cause Corrective Action

Develop assembly machine parameters and maintain standard set up sheets for each part number on the machines, along with troubleshooting problems

Follow up on quality reject meetings by addressing immediate quality issues an develop systems to prevent future occurrences

Resolve issues related to personnel, profitability, quality, growth, etc.

Conduct machine safety reviews along with identifying and ensuring preventative maintenance on automated equipment for continuous improvement

Work with manufacturing and automation personnel to improve quality and efficiency on the production floor

Assist with new product design process to ensure ease of manufacturability

Participate in manufacturing and automation projects, including creating and updating PFMEA documents

Submit capital requirement and justifications to management

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience required

3+ years related work experience required

Good mechanical aptitude along with good computer literacy and skills required

Experience in injection molding strongly preferred

3D CAD systems knowledge required, Solidworks preferred

Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles are a plus

Compensation Information:

$80,000 - $90,000
