Job Description

AECOM is seeking a talented and highly motivated Engineering Intern to join the Surface Transportation team in Boston, Massachusetts.

Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning.

This position is expected to begin in September 2025.

The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

Builds analytic and design skills.

Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

Performs work per agreed budget and schedule under supervision.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering.

Must have completed three years of study.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience or knowledge of Transportation projects.

Knowledge and experience using CADD and industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD or MicroStation).

Ability to balance various project and company responsibilities and deadlines, while maintaining professionalism and quality.

Adaptable and flexible, showing a willingness and ability to take on new projects or areas with or without supervision, as required.

Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to proficiently communicate both internally and externally to build collaborative relationships.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $26.00/hour - $28.00/hour.
