Summary This position is located at the Medical Center's (MC), Environmental Management Service (EMS) at the James E Van Zandt VA Medical Center. The incumbent is under the direct supervision of the Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor. The main purpose of the position is to be responsible for laboring duties within the facility. Responsibilities Duties include but not limited to: Transports furniture, office equipment, and related items within the facility and off-campus. Installs and assembles office furniture within the facility, including systems furniture, case goods, accessories, wall-hung units, etc. Performs semi-skilled and unskilled minor maintenance and repair work on building, structures, and equipment. Vehicles are driven on campus and public roads on the basis of either specific trip assignments or regularly established schedules and standard routes to transport furniture, equipment, and tools pertaining to moves and furniture installation. These include pickup trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks w/ lift gate, and large moving trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of up to 4500 kilograms (10,000 pounds). The incumbent uses a variety of snow removal equipment including riding equipment (John Deere 1445/1575) that have a mechanical brush, blades, or a spreader attached. Performs routine and specialized tasks in completing sanitation duties as assigned.
