Description

We are seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant for our client in New Orleans, Louisiana, for a short-term contract to full time position. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing financial operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, and internal reporting during the monthly close process. This dynamic opportunity offers the chance to collaborate closely with the Accounting Manager, contribute to policy development, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed journal entries and perform account reconciliations for areas such as cash, payroll, and prepaid expenses.

Generate monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses to assist with management reporting.

Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing processes, including the preparation of financial close workbooks.

Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures, maintaining adherence to regulatory standards.

Maintain and update fixed asset ledgers, including depreciation calculations and reconciliations.

Oversee capital lease schedules and monthly payment tracking.

Perform intercompany billing, transaction processing, and reconciliation tasks.

Analyze financial data, preparing reports that are clear and actionable for stakeholders.

Participate in department-wide initiatives and handle ad-hoc reporting or special projects as required.

Collaborate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits to ensure accurate reporting.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting roles.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite or Blackline is advantageous.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Proven capacity to meet critical business deadlines.

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
