Job Title: Mechanical Technician
Job Description
The Mechanical Technician is responsible for assembling all mechanical components of automation equipment according to supplied mechanical drawings, as well as assembling pneumatic components. The role includes performing mechanical testing, debugging, installation, and repair of automation equipment. A comprehensive understanding of Bill of Materials and the ability to collaborate with others is essential.
Responsibilities
Assemble complex mechanical components according to supplied mechanical drawings.
Demonstrate a basic understanding of GD&T.
Properly use adhesives and ensure correct application.
Install subassemblies while understanding materials and tolerances.
Apply the correct torque sequence.
Utilize arbor press with proper blocking.
Plan and execute order of operations.
Set up and install sensors, including proximity sensors.
Identify and troubleshoot mechanical and pneumatic problems, implementing effective solutions.
Address minor assembly issues and plan the assembly process for complex mechanical assemblies.
Determine required pneumatic components and assemble according to pneumatic diagrams.
Interpret pneumatic diagrams and route wiring/tubing accordingly.
Set up pneumatic flow controls and demonstrate a basic understanding of component fabrication.
Machine mechanical components using conventional and CNC machine tools, including lathe, mills, and drill.
Perform basic manual machining and use tapping unit in the machine shop.
Execute dimensional layout and perform intermediate measurement skills with indicators and micrometers.
Assist engineering with machine and component design by offering constructive solutions to design problems.
Drive personal or company vehicle to customers' facilities for installation or service work.
Understand Bill of Material structure and utilize internal resources to determine parts required.
Create simple mechanical sketches and mark modifications on existing drawings.
Assist in the debugging phase of production by modifying, re-machining, and re-assembling components.
Inspect incoming manufactured parts for quality and conformance to print.
Assist Controls Technicians with the mounting of electrical components.
Essential Skills
Excellent mechanical aptitude.
Good knowledge of pneumatic control and common devices.
Excellent documentation ability.
Proficient in interpreting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
Skilled in using basic hand and power tools.
Basic knowledge of machine shop practices using conventional and CNC machine tools.
Ability to use CAD systems such as SolidWorks, Cadkey, AutoCAD, and Inventor.
Ability to perform tasks from oral or handwritten instructions.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Good interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
Knowledge of general safety standards.
Ability to read, write, and understand English.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
2+ years of experience as a mechanical technician with recent high-tech mechanical assembly experience required.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Machining experience is preferred.
2+ years of experience in the installation of equipment on customer sites is preferred.

Work Environment
Work in a cutting-edge high-tech facility with a climate-controlled production floor and a very nice cafeteria. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

This is a Contract position based out of Wilsonville, Oregon.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
