Senior Director, Finance Risk Management

Capital One is seeking a highly motivated professional for a Senior Director position within the Finance Risk Management (FRM) organization.
Senior Directors in Finance Risk Management at Capital One are highly motivated professionals with excellent organizational, leadership, communication and influence skills. They have an ability to work with executives to create innovative solutions and can think strategically, while maintaining attention to detail. The Senior Director ensures Finance effectively implements and executes risk framework processes across the Finance division, driving solutions that provide value-added risk management practices while ensuring alignment with enterprise risk standards. Additionally, the Senior Director plays a critical role in partnering with second line risk management and peer group Business Risk Offices in the development and rollout of new risk framework requirements and methodologies.
The Finance Risk Management (FRM) organization is made up of engaged and insightful risk management partners working across Finance to:
Execute robust and proactive risk management programs (e.g., requirements, controls, testing) and Finance's compliance management programs
Improve effectiveness and efficiency while reducing risk with technology tools, automation, process engineering, project management, and technical writing skills
Influence risk stakeholders
Enable a strong culture of risk management that's adaptable to a changing environment
We are seeking a Senior Director on the team with oversight of the following risk functions:
Divisional and process level risk assessments for both financial and non-financial risks
Operational risk control programs (e.g., business continuity, third party management, change management, issue/event management)
Compliance control program (i.e., meeting regulatory requirements)
Lead a function of risk advisors to dynamically prioritize and effectively execute risk management activities and establish influential and and effective partnerships with leadership teams across Finance
Control testing
Intercompany agreement governance
Our ideal candidate will have the following skills:
Strong subject knowledge of risk management from both financial (e.g., market, liquidity, counterparty credit, and capital) and non-financial (e.g., operational and compliance) perspectives
Strong critical thinking with an ability to flex among and balance changing priorities
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
Effective communication and presentation skills
Ability to maintain and nurture influential relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including executives, staff, auditors, and regulators
A people leadership acumen that includes, empowers, and inspires associates
Travel Expectations:
The associate will be expected to travel an average of 10-15% of the time.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or military experience
At least 12 years of experience in the financial services industry
At least 7 years of experience in risk management, accounting, finance, or a combination
At least 5 years of direct people management experience
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree
7+ years of compliance management experience
7+ years of operational risk management experience
7+ years of control testing or auditing experience
7+ years of direct people management experience
5+ years of data management experience
CPA, CFA or FRM certifications

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $264,300 - $301,700 for Sr. Director, Capital Markets & Risk
Richmond, VA: $240,300 - $274,300 for Sr. Director, Capital Markets & Risk
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
