Job Description
Impact Finance is seeking an experienced professional to join our growing company as Executive Managing Director ("EMD") of our Environmental Finance platform. The EMD will oversee our tax equity, project finance debt, and new product development initiatives. They will also lead analysis and strategy for future market expansion. This individual will manage and mentor a high-performing team responsible for originating, underwriting, closing, and managing a diverse portfolio of debt, equity and other structured finance investments. The EMD will assume full accountability for the portfolio's risk and return profile, ensuring alignment with the company's financial objectives.
The EMD will represent the firm with major clients, industry associations, and other key outside parties. This individual must be a proven people leader with deep business acumen, strong product knowledge, and a track record of proactive, strategic leadership.
In this role, the EMD will collaborate closely with peers across USBIF and key leaders throughout U.S. Bank to drive strategy execution. Cross-functional collaboration will be essential to support organizational effectiveness and advance the company's growth objectives.
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in energy finance, banking, accounting, and complex tax equity and debt financing structures used in renewable energy. Strong management experience, analytical skills, and the ability to prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment are essential.
Success in this role requires building strong relationships across teams and with key stakeholders within USBIF, U.S. Bank, and the broader industry. The EMD must balance high-level strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to execution, ensuring both vision and operational excellence.
The EMD of Environmental Finance leads one of the nation's most influential clean energy investment platforms. This role is responsible for the strategic direction, performance, and innovation of a business that has deployed over $22.5 billion in capital to support over 29 GW of renewable energy capacity-including solar, wind, and battery storage.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Platform Leadership
Define and execute the long-term vision for Environmental Finance, ensuring alignment with enterprise growth goals.
Lead a platform that has completed over 470 tax equity and debt transactions and syndicated $7.6 billion in tax credits to enhance market liquidity.
Expand market share and national leadership in clean energy finance through innovation, partnerships, and policy engagement.
Capital Innovation & Product Strategy
Oversee a diversified product suite that includes tax equity, project finance debt, and hybrid structures-supporting 200% growth in loan volume since launch.
Drive capital formation strategies that deepen client relationships and expand market access.
Organizational Leadership & Talent Development
Lead a multidisciplinary team of investment professionals, underwriters, and asset managers across multiple geographies.
Foster a culture of inclusion, accountability, and high performance through structured development, performance management, and succession planning.
Promote cross-functional collaboration with legal, technology, risk, and impact measurement teams.
Operational Excellence & Risk Oversight
Ensure rigorous risk management, compliance, and governance across all investment activities.
Champion digital transformation initiatives to modernize investment infrastructure and data systems.
Represent the firm in industry forums, client engagements, and regulatory discussions.
Qualifications
20+ years of experience in renewable energy finance or infrastructure investment, or impact capital markets.
10+ years of senior leadership experience managing large teams and complex portfolios.
Deep expertise in tax equity, project finance, and federal clean energy policy.
Demonstrated success in scaling investment platforms and delivering enterprise-wide impact.
Advanced degree in Finance, Public Policy, Law, or related field preferred.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $238,765.00 - $280,900.00
