General description
The Unclaimed Property Division is responsible for administering the states unclaimed property program and returning abandoned property to its rightful owners. To accomplish this objective, division staff receives and processes property reports from holders; provides information and assistance to claimants; verifies and processes claims, evaluates data for system implementation and manages the contract audit and voluntary disclosure programs. Owner outreach efforts include posting available properties on two online searchable databases (ClaimItTexas.govandMissingmoney.com) and owner notice mailings.
The Unclaimed Property Division will be participating in the Returnship Program which will reintroduce on-the-job training skills to individuals who have been away from the workforce for two years or longer and are looking to re-enter the workforce. This position will provide statistical reports and information to management; process database information requests and assist with planning, developing and implementing action plans to improve or initiate programs.
This position may be eligible for a flexible/hybrid work schedule if certain conditions are met; working arrangements may change at any time as business necessitates. This is a temporary/full-time position.
Qualifications: Qualifications -
Education:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelors degree.
Preferred Education:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Accounting or Business administration.
Minimum Experience:
Experience researching, running reports or performing statistical analysis.
Experience using Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Experience:
Experience responding to customer telephone and email inquiries
Division Security Coordinator experience
Experience in identifying and implementing process improvements
Experience with budget-related activities (processing PAFs, monitoring expenditures, verifying invoices)
Substitution:
One year full-time work experience providing administrative program support may substitute for thirty semester hours of the required education, with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).
In this Role you will:
Compile, review and validate data for statistical reports, budgetary reports and queries. Process requests for database files. Respond to inquiries regarding technical support such as hardware, local area networks, and system software. Assist division director in analysis, research, and preparation of responses to technical requests for information.
Serve as back-up for the division security coordinator and assists the purchasing/budget liaison. Assist with on-boarding activities for newly hired employees and contract staff. Assist with maintaining the division intranet website.
Assist in developing and implementing techniques for evaluating and improving division programs. Assist in evaluating section operations to identify opportunities for business process improvements and makes recommendations for procedure changes.
