Software Engineer, Specialist

Title:

KBR is looking for a specialist-level Software Engineer to support the development and maturation of USAF open architecture standards. Our team leads the charge in architecture development, maturation, and coordination for multiple high-profile programs.

Specific tasks:

Instantiate, develop, and mature open architecture software in a KBR environment

Produce and brief demonstrations of open architecture core software and architecture-compliant capabilities

Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems with established code bases

A desire to work on critical software that has a real-world impact

Performs all activities associated with the design, development, implementation, maintenance, configuration management and quality control of software for scientific/engineering applications

Perform internal testing of software products. Respond to and resolve software discrepancies against documented requirements

Participates in the design, development, and utilization of scientific/engineering electronic data processing systems software

Provides analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software for products such as utility software, development software, and diagnostic software

Participates in the development of engineering test strategies, devices and systems

Required Skills:

Active TOP SECRET clearance

Experience with C++ development in a Linux environment

Experience with modern commercial software development practices using tools like GitLab, Jira, Artifactory, and Nexus

Experience with collaborative software development in either open source or professional team environments.

Preferred Skills:

Government acquisition program experience

SAP experience

Experience with MBSE and design activities

Familiarity with modern software development tools, languages, and techniques

Familiarity with existing DoD open architectures, such as OMS

Knowledge of military systems and operational tactics

Developing software/hardware for flight systems

Required Education:

BS in engineering or computer science and 2 years of related experience

Required Experience:

2+ years in C++ software development

Preferred Experience:

2+ years in software development in a classified working environment
