Function Positioning
MUFG has a developing and thriving Transaction Banking business, headquartered in Tokyo, and spanning all continents. Transaction Banking Office for EMEA (incorporating Europe, Middle East and Africa) forms part of MUFG's Global Transaction Banking Division.
TB EMEA's key responsibilities are to drive regional business and support global and regional customers with Transaction Banking solutions in Cash and Liquidity Management, Trade and Working Capital, and Foreign Exchange.
Transaction Banking EMEA, consists of three Sales functions (EU, MENA and UK); two Product Management Functions (Trade and Working Capital and Cash and Liquidity Management); a Servicing Team and Implementation Team.
Overall Purpose of the Job
The Trade Finance & Working Capital Product Specialist role will be responsible for helping TB EMEA in achieving it's regional sales targets. The role will be part of two functions:
Part of a regional EMEA Trade Finance Product Management team which is responsible for actively supporting the development, implementation and execution of the EMEA Trade Finance & Working Capital Product Strategy which includes deal advisory and structuring, product development/change, sales support and management of product risk.
Part of a wider EU Transaction Banking Sales & Product Team responsible for serving the Trade & Working Capital needs of our clients through based in the EU using a deep local understanding of the EU client base, recommending and selling appropriate solutions.
Your impact at MUFG
Deal Advisory/Deal Structuring
Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of the local German client base and wider competitive market for Trade Finance & Working Capital requirements (FIs, NBFIs and Corporate clients) using internal and external sources of data + client & Coverage feedback.
Using the above derived knowledge of the German Trade Finance market to identify revenue opportunities and opportunities for product/service improvement. Sharing such knowledge with wider TB EMEA colleagues and local Coverage; and actively pursuing those opportunities with them.
Support local Coverage and TB EMEA staff with deal structuring and product advice - ensuing alignment with internal policy/procedures and external regulation.
Actively liaise with local Coverage and Front office Product functions (Structured Finance, Leverage Finance and any other locally based client facing functions) to understand their aims, objectives and strategies and to ascertain how TB EMEA's product set can support and integrate into deal opportunities.
Product Development/Change & Product Management
Support the TB EU Product Head and regional Head of Trade & Working Capital Products with product development and product change projects. Including but not limited to product design, creation/amendment of product policy, product procedures, product governance and product launches.This may include products available only to the German market, EU market or regionally available across EMEA.
Ensure end to end TB EMEA product efficiency as it relates to the German market (Front, Middle, Back office) is always running optimally - otherwise escalate to TB EMEA Product Heads as per 'Product Risk' below.
Sales Support
Be point of expertise/contact for local Front Office staff regardingTrade Finance and Working Capital products offered by TB EMEA. E.g.procedures, policies, product library.
Support the regional product function with management/maintenance of regional product procedures, policies and client materials including pitchbooks as required.
Ensure local Front office staff have the materials they need to effectively commercialise and sell TB EMEA's Trade & Working Capital products.
Product Risk
Accountable for product risk as it relates to the use and application of TB EMEA's products in the local market. For instance, ensuring that our products are used and functioning in the correct way by local teams - inside of the bank's policies and procedures.
Ensure early escalation of any risks to the TB EU Product Head and regional Head of Trade & Working Capital Products.
Additional
As part of the wider regional product community, support the TB EU Product Head and regional Head of Trade & Working Capital Products with product management and commercialisationrelated projects as required.
In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:
A minimum of 3 years' experience in a Sales or Product Management role directly dealing with Trade Finance & Working Capital products. This must include Documentary Trade products (Guarantees, Import and Export Letters of Credit).
Evidence of having supported or lead projects within a bank - formal project management techniques are not necessary, but a proven ability to organise/deliver a project end to end, meeting KPIs.
Evidence of strong stakeholder management
Evidence of strong client centricity
Strong understanding of Trade Finance Products (LCs, SBLCs/Bonds/Guarantees; Trade Loans and Open account receivables/payables). In particular a good understanding of the underlying ICC Rulesets (UCP, ISP, URDG)
At least a foundation and proficient knowledge of credit management processes within banking as well as related risks and mitigants.
Understanding of Capital Treatment of Trade Finance products and pricing metrics
