JOB SUMMARY: Assists students in daily emotional and educational needs, reinforces teacher's efforts and assists teacher with whatever tasks that need completion.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in all activities to ensure the safety and well-being of the students Assists students with their studies, supervises students outside for break and supervises students while waiting for buses and on field trips Performs various administrative duties, such as copying papers, changing bulletin boards, sorting papers, and preparing folders and homework Assists in recording grades in grade book and computer, runs 3 and 6 weeks grade reports and reviews report cards to ensure that grades are recorded correctly Takes attendance, pulls cards, sharpens pencils and gets all art work ready weekly Constructs games for reading and math, makes items for bulletin boards, has them laminated and mounts on boards Files all art and lessons in cabinets Types purchase orders for books and supplies that are needed Serves as a positive role model and example for students Assists in all activities of daily living Performs related duties as required MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Frequent walking Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) Environment: Work is located in a classroom environment; must have ability to move from one location to another throughout the district; regular exposure to noise Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Educational Aide Certificate required At least 48 college hours preferred for NCLB

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Skills in organizing, communication and problem solving. Ability to relate well with students. Ability to read, write and perform basic math calculations. Ability to use copier, computer, fax, and other office equipment.
