Description

We are looking for a meticulous and driven Staff Accountant to join a highly regarded non-profit in Santa Monica, California. This long-term contract position offers a unique opportunity to support impactful initiatives that promote global prosperity through economic, health, and policy advancements. In this role, you will play a key part in the organization's financial operations, focusing on month-end close processes, fixed asset accounting, and compliance with non-profit accounting standards.

Responsibilities:

Oversee month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.

Manage and track fixed assets, particularly those associated with a significant construction project.

Ensure accurate and timely accruals and depreciation entries to support financial reporting.

Collaborate with senior finance staff to analyze and prepare financial reports.

Maintain compliance with non-profit accounting principles and standards.

Provide support for internal and external audits, including gathering necessary documentation.

Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and process improvements as needed.

Work closely with leadership to address financial inquiries and provide insights.

Facilitate cross-training efforts to ensure continuity during transitions.

Requirements - A minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience at the staff or senior level, with a focus on detail-oriented work.

Proficiency in NetSuite is required, with hands-on experience in its functionalities.

In-depth knowledge of fixed asset accounting, accruals, and month-end close procedures.

Familiarity with non-profit accounting practices and compliance standards is essential.

Strong understanding of account reconciliations and depreciation methods.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with leadership.

Availability to work onsite in Santa Monica, California, with flexibility for hybrid arrangements.

Comfortable managing responsibilities within a mission-driven and collaborative environment.
